Located in the noble wing of the Villa they retain the taste of the ancient owners in their furnishings and architectural details. Decorated with antique furniture, the rooms offer efficient and modern services, making them enjoyable in every season. Every window offers a stunning view over the surrounding nature, without compromising its natural harmony.
The changes made to the villa during the 1950s had as most important result the construction of a large terrace overlooking the inner courtyard. This terrace, embellish by three terracotta “putti” and two columns holding artistically designed terracotta peacocks, is decorated with various “bocche di lupo “, thoroughly described in publications about Tuscan villas, meant for the deflux of rainwater. In a niche on the terrace a small statue depicting Queen Gertrud (Nuremberg Cathedral) was positioned to symbolize the predilection for Gothic architecture of late eighteenth century / beginning of twentieth century, which also influenced some of the Villa’s interior decorations (hand made iron details, etc.). The terrace is now connected to a large and versatile bedroom with a lounge area, which can be provided with a further single bed. A large bathroom with a shower with high standard finishing (marble, stainless steel and vitrified tiles) and a comfortable wardrobe complete this suite. This suite also includes all the accessories contributing to our guests’ comfort such as hairdryer, safe, air conditioning, telephone and flat TV.
Olive oil, bread and wine are the foundations of Tuscan cuisine. Bread with olive oil and a pinch of salt was the traditional snack of this area. From the bread the fragrances of the olives clearly emerge unmistakably pointing to their provenance. Half a glass of simple and fine wine leaves the mouth clean and dry. At Le Piazzole, we have pursued the childish dream of reproducing the wine and the olive oil that these farms once gave generously.
We wanted to find the old flavours and make them available to those visiting our Villa. The comments of customers and specialists confirm that we have achieved our goal. For the bread, we rely on a trusted baker who still produces it with the traditional ingredients and methods. With these simple ingredients our cuisine prepares typical dishes with Tuscan cured meats and cheese to accompany the tasting of our wines. We also prepare full lunches and barbecues with meats and local ingredients, and with prior notice, we can prepare delicious pizzas cooked in the old wood oven, to be tasted in the cellar comfortably seated between the wine barrels or enjoying the good season in the farm courtyard.
